Here are some thoughts on building out the Deep Fates program in Numinex:

Program Overview

Deep Fates could be an immersive collaborative worldbuilding experience where participants create characters and factions in a sprawling science fiction or fantasy universe. Key elements:

  • Open ended with no predefined plot - the story emerges organically from character interactions
  • Participants create detailed character profiles including backstories, motivations, abilities, etc.
  • Characters are grouped into factions/houses/guilds that shape their roles and relationships
  • The world has a rich history and lore that characters can discover and shape over time
  • Game masters (GMs) help guide the overall narrative and adjudicate actions
  • Emphasis on quality writing, character development, and emergent storytelling vs. game mechanics

Workflow

  1. World Intro - GM posts an intro establishing the world, key factions, and initial hooks
  2. Character Creation - Participants create character profiles and are sorted into factions
  3. Open RP - Participants write posts from their character's POV, interacting with each other and the world
  4. GM Moves - GMs regularly interject posts to introduce plot points, challenges, and twists
  5. Player Moves - Players have their characters take actions to overcome obstacles and pursue goals
  6. Faction Turns - Periodically, each faction makes decisions on how to move their agenda forward
  7. World Advances - The world and story progress based on the cumulative actions taken

The branching nature of Numinex is perfect for this, allowing each choice to spin off alternate timelines. What do you think so far? I'm excited to flesh this out further! Let me know if you have any other ideas or directions you'd like to see this go.
